Physician's assistant credits output from Lexmark MFP for professional-looking graphics to aid in patient education during pandemic.

As a physician’s assistant in primary care, Emily Merritt is on the front lines of healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Working in the small town of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Merritt says providing patients with accurate information about how to avoid acquiring or spreading the Coronavirus is critical. And her compact Lexmark MC3326adwe color multifunction product has been a valuable tool in helping her help patients to fight the virus.
Since the outbreak began, Merritt says she’s been doing clerical tasks from home, including preparing information packets for patients at risk of exposure to the virus.
“With so much information on the internet that’s untrue or only partially true, we need to give patients accurate information from a reputable source,” says Merritt. “And being able to print color documents with graphics from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) helps us teach patients how to stay safe, all while staying healthy at home.”
Merritt says studies show that 51% of patients aren’t able to recall what they talked about following an appointment with their doctor, highlighting the need for educational materials she can send home with patients—particularly at a time when providers are supposed to minimize the time they spend in patient rooms.
In fact, she says it’s even been useful for printing CDC graphics that illustrate proper procedures for providers how to put on their personal protective equipment.
This printer lets me provide color print-outs that look like they were professionally printed, for a level of quality I couldn’t get from our black and white printer at the office. And it’s fast enough that I don’t have to wait around for the prints I need.
She says her Lexmark MC3326adwe was easy to set up on a small table in her home office, and thanks to its built-in wifi all she needed was an outlet.
“Setting up the wifi to print from my laptop was very easy,” says Merritt. “I was done setting it up in about a minute, and I’m not a technical person.”
Merritt praises the quality of the output and reiterates the value of the device for conveying accurate information to her patients in a time of crisis.
“It’s just done everything it was meant to do, really well.”
