Lexmark South Africa partners with BMW to make a dream come true

Johannesburg, 7 October 2015

Lwandle Hlubi, a 5 year old boy diagnosed with chronic renal failure, was one of the lucky children selected to be part of the Reach for a Dream initiative in August. Lexmark South Africa’s “SHE Means Business” which is driven by employees to unite women in social responsibility initiatives, reached out to support Lwandle in achieving his dream.

Lwandle’s dream was very specific: he wanted a ride in his dream car, the BMW i8 sports car. The Lexmark SHE team partnered with BMW who were more than happy to make this dream a reality. He was picked up from his home and surprised with a ride in his dream car.

Lwandle was then treated to his very own miniature motorised BMW X6 which was waiting for him after he was taken for a spin in the i8. It was smiles all around as he sped around in his new car.  Lwandle described the day as the “most wonderful day” he has ever had.

Nathan Nayagar Managing Director for Lexmark - South Africa & English Speaking Africa says, “The SHE team are doing amazing work to advance Lexmark’s vision to help create a better world by focusing on people, the planet and the communities in which they live and work.”

About Reach for a Dream

Reach for a Dream Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to fulfil the dreams of children of all income groups, race, colour or creed between the ages of 3 and 18 years who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness by a doctor. The organization does not refer to their children as terminally ill or dying. Reach for a Dream believes that the phrase life-threatening is used at all times because many of the children do survive their illness because of the ‘power of their dreams’.
